What kind of putty do you use, please?
Hi janrabie1890, please see image inset in upper left corner at 12:43. 🙂
hello, your build of this aircraft as always beautiful! do you have a 1/48 ww2 bomber in the works?? would love to see you take one on, just one question, when you shoot glosscoat and dull, what is your clear to thinner ratio?
Hi Walter, thanks. When using the Tamiya products I try to thin the gloss by anywhere from 20%-50% depending on what I'm doing. For the flat clear XF-86 (which is almost like syrup) I try to go 50% thinned for airbrushing. I have 4 model projects on deck currently with a WWII era bomber at #3 in the pattern. 👍
Came for the build, stayed for the music
🎹🎼🎺🎧
Tip: if your yellow paint is really watery after shaking.. plane Taniya’s pink down let it dry then lay your yellow
👍
@@MaxAfterburner learned that from my grandpa lol he works with some paint for models and he tells me all abt them
This is the best production model video I have ever seen. First and foremost, I like the fact that it’s narrated. And also, I really enjoy the photos and background story you give of the model before you begin. Also, like the fact that you provide facts about your subject matter during the build, I’m definitely a subscriber now !
Hi thomastims9583, thanks so very much for the comments and welcome aboard! 🥳😀
Great looking model, thanks for your service.
Hi 1997cjt, thanks, and you're welcome! 😉
Great model and looks really good when done. I like the weathering you did. It would have been nice if they included the addition to the engine frame for the 2nd season. They did that so they could should the blast come out of the east engines.
Hey TheShornak, thanks for watching! 😀
As a kid, I used to be able to make paper origami of the Eagle from Space 1999 one of my favorite TV series. Now at 55 I have forgotten the steps😢
Hi fixxzitt, that's amazing, it must have been a labor of love 🚀👨🚀
Hello I've just bought this kit. Your video is great and will help me a lot throughout this build. Thank you.
Hi thebigman170, that's terrific to hear! Have fun with your model build of the F-105G, and thanks 👍🙂
Man, you got me. As soon as ibheard that AI voice i was like "oh no, what happened to the narration i love that!"
Hi amazonamazon4872, just for the beginning quote. I wanted a voice different than mine 😏
Love how details in such a flat color as black end up highlighted. Do you put varnish before applying the oil wash? Or straight on top of the paint? What type of paint is it, acrylic, enamel? Doesnt the wash mess up the paintwork when you go over with the cloth? Thanks!! Love your videos!
Ok going again through the video now I see you used tamiya colors and then applied a gloss coat before decals and weathering :D
Hi EduWushu, no worries. I would say, however, that oil paints do not react with the acrylic paint as long as the type of thinner used such as lighter fluid is mixed in the oil paint. So, a gloss coat would not be necessary.
Thanks for the video! Im trying to follow same steps you did to learn, more specifically the marbling effect, which is quite nice. Question: I see you use cotton to mask the landing gear bays. Doesnt that make the cotton fibers to be stuck to the model when you paint with the black primer? Up to this point Ive been using blue tac, but I always have problems with this kind of big empty spaces that need covering
Hi EduWushu, glad the video may be of help to you. The cotton usually doesn't adhere since the airbrush paint layer is micro thin, but it can leave some fibers behind in spaces that need to be plucked out for sure. I've noticed that other modelers use pieces of rubber foam instead which would alleviate the cotton strands problem. 😎
Lot's of work man, I've seen those jets, (different squadron than mine) back in the '80's,,,,,,,,,,, love your "DETAIL"!
Hi Marcel, glad you enjoyed the build and the memories! 😄
Hello my friend. Your gap that you ended up with behind the cockpit was because you didn't install the back wall of the cockpit properly and left it too high forcing the fuselage halves open.
Hi foorcscale, it's been awhile, but my recollection is that it didn't fit well to begin with causing the mismatch. 🤔
@@MaxAfterburner You can see in your assembly that you left a gap under the back bulk head. I have not had this problem with the back bulk head installed fully down and into its locating hole. There is in fact a little float once the assembly is in the fuselage.
Great video. Your attention to detail, skill and experience makes the end result a work of art. An iconic spacecraft indeed!
Hey tonycrook1353, thank you kindly! 😎
I really like your choice of markings for a real hero.
Hi greenheartjg54, 👍
I need 3 of these. I'll be painting them yo as starscream, skywarp and Thundercracker.
That'll be quite a transformation for them 😉
@@MaxAfterburner indeed. There will be more to them than meets the eye.
where did you get those masking things for the swastika? and how did you align them? my starbord deck did not have the little ring on it to guide you.
Hi andershagensen7588, I made my own masking templates and did simple measurements to align the emblems on the bow and stern of the model. 📏📐
yummy looking ship Potoo approved
Hi Elitecorsair-hn3sv, glad you liked it 😁
trumpeter photo etch is too thin easily damaged
Hi jimmclaughlin2728, I found the thickness about standard, but some of the crane guides for the cables required way too many bends! 😲
Well done video with some great tips!
Hi cvarmit1716, thanks! I hope to do another A-10 one day in the grey paint scheme. ✈️👍
If you add thinner to the paint, what is its ratio?
Hi emreistutan8420, for the Tamiya acrylics, I use about 75%-80% paint with a corresponding 25% -20% thinner ratio when airbrushing 🙂
That is freaking beautiful...Wow.
Hi PantherCreekPlantation, thanks very much! The Bismarck video which is now over 5 years old has become my most watched video daily once again - and for many months now! ⛴️😄
I believe that’s it. One bright point is that high school student that lived up there asked questions and was leading figure in getting the Captain’s name cleared. That and navy vessels now have ETAs and vessels are called/ looked for if a vessel misses its ETA.
The Indianapolis got off an SOS before sinking but couldn’t get off an authentication because she went down too quickly. The SOS was heard and 2 tugs set out only to be recalled by the base CO (who was at a party the night before) returned the next day. Had those tugs arrived more crew could’ve been saved. The Indy CO committed suicide because of his felt guilt and hate mail from families of those that died- due to Inquiry verdict. A really sad book but well worth a read. Good model build.
Hi ntvtxn62, if you mean the book "In Harm's Way" by Doug Stanton, I do have a copy and have read it. It is such a tragically rich story and so unimaginable that any of the survivors could go on afterwards. 😞
Good work. It's hard to find a model build video without a ton of aftermarket parts worth double the original set price.
Hi joelkarlonas1553, the extensive PE parts sets out there can certainly up the budgetary cost on a project for sure! 😲
Tremendous. Thank you. Bravo.
Hi billhosko7723, thank you so much! 🛰️👨🚀
Good. Pleas next MIG-31.
Hi ECLEAT, I can put that on my list. But, I'm not sure if YT is still trying to find ways to demonetize/delete videos that have anything to do with "that country" in their unpredictable judgements. At any rate, like/comment/subscribe to keep the channel alive. 🙂
@@MaxAfterburner You have to build 31 МИГ, that's your destiny, joke.Аlready subscribed to the channel.
If you put the cockpit decals over the molded details and then press down lightly with a small piece of a paper towel, they’re go right on the molded detail without breaking.
Hi SpringHawk, great suggestion! I sometimes worry, however, that the look of the decals are too bright or cartoonish looking in some kit offerings. Your technique sounds very useful if the decals look more realistic though. 👍
Hey, looking good! Can you tell us a little more about the talc on the exhaust?
Hi 140289EP, I just mixed in a little bit of the talc powder into the brown paint, swirled it around until I got a consistency that I liked, and then simply brushed it on. 🖌️
thank you for the video!. Very well explained
Hi SP-bf3ld, glad you enjoyed it! 😁
FYI the kit was first issued in 1977 and I built in 1979. For that period it was great.
Invisible painted wheels. I guess that is were obsession and pragmatism separate 😂
Hi ciesinsk, 🥳🤣
I find it sad that the kit manufacturer didn't appreciate the difference in the fin between the single and twin seat F-105. Because of the increase in yaw about the centre of gravity they needed to increase the area of the Fin. They did this by extending the chord above the kinked area thus smoothing it out quite a bit. If you examine photos it becomes very obvious when you know what to look for.
Thank you a video with authentic sounds not any of that loud techno music over the footage 💯
Hi Ballerfella2007, glad you liked it. I'm happy I was able to find matching audio tracks to help augment the Thud clips. ✈️
I still pine for a GI Joe/Star wars style eagle playset that can open up and interact with action figures, etc...
Hi rustyshackleford1114, it seems like the time has passed for such a set. Maybe a scratch built project awaits someone out there !🛰️👨🚀 👩🚀
hey, great build. I am currently building the same f111 andfind your video a great source of infos, and i need to know if you can send the templte for the color scheme, since i can't scale it right
Hi nameflumm5270, I don't have any digital files to send. To make the templates, I used the paint guide sheets provided within the kit and enlarged them with a photo copier. You can see what ratios I used to create the masks in the upper left corner of the screen at 14:44 in the video. I hope that helps! 😀
@@MaxAfterburner no worries about the files thanks anyways👍
I learned more in last half hour watching your A10build than i have learned in last 2 years of model making thank you so much for the time you take to do these helpful video,s the only reason i clicked on was that i am building that exact A10 ATM and was struggling to find the correct colours to use , you my friend have cured that problem for me .
Hi tyeguthrie1430, I'm so glad that you found the video and that it will be useful for your A-10 build! All the Best for a successful completion of your kit 🥳
@@MaxAfterburner couple of questions if you do not mind 1 what tool is it you use to do the extra detailing ? And 2 this is awkward to eplain but part of main undercarriage i cannot see or workout how it fits the paart number is C4 , It appears to go towards the very bottom of wheel strut ,not sure if you can remember doing it yourself as i know its some years since you built your model many thanks Tye
Hi Tye, you can use a scribe or a mini saw blade that will turn those panel lines into depressions instead of having raised panel lines on this A-10 kit. In this case, I used a Tamiya photo etch fine craft saw. You can lay a piece of plastic embossing tape used for lettering as a straight edge guide on the model. For part II of your question: If you look at step #9 on your instruction manual there is a better view of how C4 is supposed to sit on the landing gear parts, in particular the left man gear in this instance. Hope this all helps.
@@MaxAfterburner Thankyou Max Massive help really appreciate your help All the best Tye

This gentleman has the finest, greatest method to retain an audience I've ever seen: The intermitent appearance of footnotes and assorted tidbits of info, among the tools or paint brands and types. Brilliant. Besides a great modeller, the best "Advertising Engineer" said industry could ever hire. Bravo, loved the build and the vid!
Hi hansvonmannschaft9062, thanks so very much for the kind feedback and I'm glad you liked this Bismarck build presentation! 😎😄
I hadn't had much interest in WW1 ships, but this one is quite the looker. Very nicely done! Another way you can do salt lines is dabbing on small amounts of flat clear with a tiny bit of sponge. It can create a very life like result if done carefully and with moderation. Love the movie clips you throw in too - very cool. Way better than emoticons
Hi madhatterstudios966, thanks for the tip, I'll have to try that sometime! Glad you like the channel's presentation style 😀

Love the presentation of your videos, with the movie clips! What's next on your build table?
Hi nachocdbz, thanks so much, glad you like them! Due to a number of considerations the model corner is currently on hiatus with nothing formally on the bench at this time. ✌️
Ever wonderef why bismarck did not wipe out those torpedo planes, when they approaced?
Hi vernonsaayman9741, it's been said that the Bismarck Anti-aircraft defenses were built with other advanced types of enemy airplanes in mind and not the low and slow flying Swordfish.
Don't know where you get your information, but we lost an E-2C right off the end of the angled deck of the USS Forrestal CVA-59 and plunged into the Mediterranean Sea losing 3 crewman on the 68/69 Med cruise. I was there. ✌
Hi chesterlouis8361, according to the US Navy, the E-2C had initial test flights from converted E-2As in 1971 with the first actual production E-2C having its 1st flight on the September 23, 1972 date that I noted in the video. The E-2C later became officially operational in 1973. Thanks for your service! ✌️⛴️😊
@chesterlouis8361 -- I looked into the crash you described and it occurred on October 16, 1968. It was an E-2A from VAW-123 numbered #733 coming in for a landing when it boltered and went off the angle deck into the water. The three crew members lost were: LCDR Paul Martin Wright Operations Officer, LCDR James Leo Delaney, and LTJG Howard Booth Rutledge. Two were rescued: LTJG Frank J. Frederick and AT1 David E. Carpenter.
Great job - thanks! I’m ready to start on mine now…
